    April haul!

| | Comments (0)

So, April is finally coming to an end! Omg, I spent soo much money this month. Every time I walked by a mall I just had to buy something. Blah. But overall, very happy with my purchases! :D

Victoria's Secret Pink top, $25

Forever 21 top, $13.95

From the H&M party last night:
(Yay for 25% off!)

H&M denim dress, $15

Denim leggings. Urban Outfitters ($44), H&M ($24.95), H&M ($24.95).
I LOVE them 'cause they're actually made of denim, unlike the cotton knock-offs I used to own. Extremely comfortable, stretchy, and looks great!

As you can see, I can actually wear cropped tops and the crotch area won't look disgusting like regular leggings would.

Seriously though, I am soo happy with these. I HATE wearing jeans because my thighs are huge and they don't fit well. But these are PERFECT!

Leopard bikini. Top ($17.95), bottom ($14.95). I can't imagine myself wearing something so sexy!!

Tank top. H&M, $14.95. Proceeds go to WWF :)

Coloured bra tops for layering. Forever 21 ($2.95), Jean Machine ($10/each)

Shorts and leggings. Stitches ($5/each) and Urban Outfitters (2 for $25)

Bluenotes sunglasses, $5. Yay for liquidation sales! Everything was $5 or $10!

Stitches tube top, $14.95

Forever 21 earrings, $4.95

Claires food earrings :D

Jacky thinks they're adorable, haha!

My pageant bikini. Bikini Village ($55 top, $50 bottom)

Evening gown. Fairweather, $119

(I promise I'll make a post about the pageant sometime soon!!)

I also got some random crap, like a hugeass backpack for my summer travels. That, along with my waist belt cost me $160!! All my random shopping as well as my LASIK makes this month one of the most fiscally irresponsible moments of my life. SIGH.

But I'm happy :)

Jacky, my sisters & I landed tickets to see the World Cup trophy tour that happened today in Toronto! It was awesome :)

My sisters went in for the 4pm show.

I waited 2 hours for Jacky to get off work :(

Check out my South Africa edition makeup! (yellow, green & red blend)

Wearing my England jersey that Bernard gave me back in high school :)

People loved the mascot!

It's so cute! Also kinda creepy looking at the same time..

1st stop: Learn the Wavin' Flag dance!

2nd stop: Score a goal & do a victory dance!

3rd stop: Play a FIFA game ;)
4th stop: Score a goal with Adidas *photo to be uploaded later*
5th stop: Watch a 3D movie of the World Cup's most memorable moments!

Jacky & his 3D glasses.

Final stop: Take your photo with the World Cup!!!

Snap! Then they print.

You get your photo literally 1 minute later. Here's ours! :)

We had dinner afterwards, then left for the H&M re-opening party at the Eaton Centre!

It felt pretty exclusive. We got our own H&M wristbands ;D

The store was transformed into a very classy venue.. with wine & hors d'oeuvres!

& a DJ playing good music. I was so pumped up to shop!

Trying on random crap. I look so ridiculous.

So adorable :)

We each ended buying a lot of goodies! I personally spent $100+, but saved almost $40 with our 25% discount! We were also given free tote bags and a t-shirt. Overall, awesome day!!

    My LASIK experience!

Note: This isn't a sponsored post.. In case anyone thinks I'm advertising for LASIK.

Anyway, I had my surgery just yesterday! While I'm allowed to use the computer, I'm gonna try to keep this short and sweet as to not strain my eyes.

I don't know what it was exactly, but one random night two weeks ago, I decided to look it up on the Internet. I learned that I could go in for a free consultation, so I booked an appointment for the following week.

The Free Consultation

The whole process lasted for about an hour as I had to do several tests to make sure that I was a suitable candidate. Turns out that my prescription was relatively high (-4.75 and -5.25) and that my pupils are larger than average (I guess I never needed circle lenses....!!). I was a candidate for two procedures: LASIK Advanced Custom Wavefront (ACW) and the Standard Lasik.

The key differences: The ACW procedure uses newer technology (~8 years old) than the Standard procedure (~15 years). It's also safer because it removes 20~30% less corneal tissue. Not to say that the other procedure is unsafe, but it is more suitable for patients with thinner-than-average corneas, larger pupils, and higher prescriptions. Since I meet 2 of the 3 criteria, I chose the ACW.

The price tag? $3980 and $2778, respectively. I know, NOT CHEAP. I thought it'd be half the price, but I wanted the surgery so, so badly...

The Decision
I wanted to get the surgery for the following reasons:
1. Aesthetics
I think I look alright without make-up......

However, add glasses to the equation, and I'm not such a pretty sight. My ex-roommate couldn't recognize me with my frames on. It's not that my glasses were ugly, I own 10+ pairs. I look ugly in all of them.

2. Contacts are painful for me
My cousin once told me that everyone has a 'time limit' on how long they could wear contacts. I didn't believe her, but now I do. It's not scientifically proven or anything, but think about it--If you wear contacts every day, you'll eventually experience wear and tear. If you're not careful, you could scratch your cornea (especially true for hard lenses) and get an infection. Contacts create a barrier between your eyes and oxygen, which is essential for healthy eyes.

I wore contacts for 11+ years. For the first couple of years, everything was fine. But sooner or later, my eyes stung every time I put in a contact. It got so bad that I needed 10+ hours of sleep in order for the contacts to NOT hurt. But... I continued wearing them almost every day because of reason #1.

3. My lifestyle
Perhaps most importantly is the impact that glasses/contacts have on my lifestyle. I have really active plans this upcoming summer (hiking, mountain climbing, shark cage diving, etc). It would be that much better if I could, y'know, see what's going on. Haha.

The Surgery
I booked my surgery for the following week. I am a really impulsive person. If I could, I would have done it on the day of my consultation. Anyway, so I had to run another test to make sure everything was 100% okay prior to the surgery. It was. The procedure lasted for less than 10 minutes, but I had to stay for about 4 hours for post-op care. Dr. Mounir Bashour performed my surgery. He has a billion titles to his name, so it was pretty easy to trust him.

He first covered my left eye while he performed on my right eye. Basically, they first put in drops to numb the eye. The surgeon cuts open a flap, laser goes in (I've never seen so many pretty colours....), the flap is closed. Done. Same goes for my left eye, except I felt A LOT more pressure than my first eye. Supposed to be normal though. Thank God I had stress balls. Most people took a muscle relaxer before the surgery, but I didn't... Imagine how much energy I had, eh?

Post-Op
Had to wear sunglasses for 48 hours after the surgery. Put in a series of 3 eye drops every couple hours. Got them for $60. Overall, post-op care is pretty easy.. Now, I just need to sleep as much as I can so I can recover asap!

Phew, there! Not brief AT ALL, but I tried. Any questions you may have, feel free to ask! :D
